Chasing the snow
The last couple of days it has been pouring (which is great, cause that means snow on the hills), but today was nice and sunny. From the morning you could see the snow covered mountain tops around us which has made everyone excited for the winter. There was no snow in the valley though, so I decided to hike up the mountain to find some snow .I could feel the temperature drop the higher I got, and I clearly felt when the temperature dropped to zero. In the end I found the snow

Moving day in Whistler
It isn't easy to find accomodation in Whistler, but I was extremely lucky to find this great place, that I now share with 10 other people from around the world. Alastar from England is my roommate and the others are from New Zealand, Italy, South Africa, Germany and Canada. It snowed last night, so it is all looking good.

Vancouver Island
I went to Vancouver Island to see a friend, and the Island was much more American with massive halloween decorations and large pickup trucks. Victoria however was very British, and the surrounding areas provided some beautiful nature experiences for hiking.

Coming to (North)America – Vancouver
I am now well through day 2 in Canada. The flight to Vancouver was quite amazing. The guy next to me on the plane and I were so lucky, that there was no third in our row, so we had plenty of room. Turned out he was an Australian on his way to Whistler, after travelling for 3 months in Europe. When taking off from Iceland, we enjoyed a 180 degree sunset. It stayed that way for 3-4 hours, as we flew over Greenland while slowly catching up with the time difference. After a while the sun was so high in the sky, it appeared to be late afternoon, and…

Season in Whistler – pre departure
Just one more week before I leave for Whistler. It is a huge challenge to me not having a plan for what I am going to do, or where I am going to live and work. I mean... Normally I have things under control, right? But this is also one of the reason I want to do this. I'm getting used to the though of knowing where to stay until October 23rd, and then taking it from there. I've decided to watch Art of Flight and Jeremy Jones' Higher the next days, so if I wasn't already craving for snow, I will be. The resort looks super dope. See for…

Stanley Park
Type: Public Park Cost: Free Time: 2-6 hours Website Affiliate links: Vancouver Aquarium Bike Tours Dark Secrets Tours Horse Carriage Tours Hotels & flights Nearby: Canada Place Robson Square Stanley Park is a beautiful nature park right in downtown Vancouver. The park opened all the way back in 1888, and unlike many other metropolitan parks it is not the creation of a landscape architect, but rather the evolution of a forest and urban space over many years. The park covers an area of more than 4 km2 and has a sea wall all the way around. Walking or cycling along the sea wall takes you on a 9 km trip.…

Canada Place
Canada Place is located by the waterfront of downtown Vancouver. Walking out on the wharf provides a great view of downtown Vancouver to the south, Stanley Park to the west, and North Vancouver, the shipyard and the distant mountains across the water to the north. The place itself is lovely and a quiet place with fresh air. While hosting various events from time to time, you might encounter some interesting happenings along with the continuos flow of seaplanes landing and taking off on the water.

Robson Square
Type: Public Space Cost: Free Time: 10-30 min Affiliate links: Hotels & flights Nearby: Stanley Park Canada Place Robson Square it self is to many people not anything too special. It is a nice place, and if you are ever in the area, you should stop by. It’s a nice open square with a semi-underground ice rink. However, if you are a fan of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, this place will be very familiar if you played Tony Hawk’s Underground. Most of the Vancouver level in the game is based on Robson Square (called Nobson in the game). When I stood there (read my Vancouver stories here) it…
